About a Girl has been a local favourite in Nobby Beach for years! When the store went up for sale in 2015, the now owners knew they wanted to be part of it.
Coming from a corporate background, they were both ready for not only a change, but also a challenge, and the next thing they knew, they were owners of this beautiful boutique! After 17 years of friendship, the owners started on the most terrifying, but exciting ride together!
As most girls do, they have a love for fashion, but more importantly, they love the chilled, coastal lifestyle, and this is reflected in their style and pieces throughout the store.

Skye's Grandfather ran the Rio Milk Bar in Summer Hill for over 60 years. Every day he put on a suit and tie and opened the store.
From a very young age, she dreamed of owning her own business. She had no idea what that was going to be or how she was going to make that happen...
A year after my Grandfather passed away, Skye met my husband. He was living in Burleigh at the time, overlooking the ocean and the beautiful Burleigh beach. Skye fell in love with the area instantly. It was then she discovered Bird on a Wire and it soon became her favourite store.
Never could she have imagined one day she would own the gorgeous little boutique nestled amongst a community only a stones throw from Burleigh Beach on the Lower Gold Coast Hwy. Terre Lee Tonkin has done an amazing job building the business prior to Skye and she established it in 2011.
The warm, friendly, intimate shopping experience Terre has created in this unique boutique is something Skye hoped to replicate for the customers. With the support of her husband and family, this dream has became possible.

Over the years they have had many holiday makers returning to Coolangatta each year to shop with the and were repeatedly asked to start an online store so that they could shop with us year round. Carla Dorge, the designer behind Mode Voyage and Kingscliff store On Kliff, has always been enamoured with fashion, style and travel. Carla caught Who’s Who eye with her authentic views on fashion and fitting the female body. She utilises her knowledge to accommodate and accentuate all body types. Carla started her work in Kingscliff in 2007, however it was not her first experience with running her own fashion business, having previously run Tri Hard Sports Wear for Triathletes in the 80s before moving overseas. Living in places like Kazakhstan, Amsterdam, Budapest, Angola and Houston have given her an in-depth and vast understanding of fine fabrics and how to show them on the body. Living abroad and having a background on the stage when she was young made way for the designs she creates today. Through the On Kliff store Carla offers a range of products and services from ready to wear to custom orders. Mode Voyage also offers personal styling services and bespoke pieces that are designed specifically with the customer in mind. When it comes to custom pieces they offer a range of products from wedding and evening wear, work wear and alternate sizing for their ready to wear range. On Kliff has become a staple in Kingscliff for fashion and style, with a diverse size range running from XXS to XXL. Carla has made a name for herself within the community and beyond, backed by a team that is informed and willing to spend the time finding the perfect look for their customers. Carla strives for ethical and responsible fashion with Mode Voyage and On Kliff proudly being manufactured on the Gold Coast. As for the future for On Kliff and Mode Voyage, Carla plans to continue to grow the online business to see it flourish and is looking at bringing On Kliff north, with the possibility of opening a store in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast.

It s obvious Sharon who owns this fabulous boutique adores the original ‘hippie fashion’ remembered from her childhood, she loved to shop her heart out, has really paved the way for her passion for all things inspired by the bohemian hippy, festival fashions and the endless summer.
Sharon grew up in Victoria near the beach and spent all Summer long driving backwards and forwards in the Valiant full of surfboards and surf mats to the beaches. Her first move out of home was Interstate to sunny QLD, where she soaked up the year round sunshine and the laid back lifestyle that came with it. Having always loved working with fashion, having worked for a number of companies such as Country Road and some well known Surf labels.
